Long-distance move from Springfield, VA to Wildomar, CA

Don’t use them.

The sales guy was very reassuring. Went over everything with him, have updates on items to adjust quote, told me don’t worry about a couple extra boxes, asked about any surprise fees. Did our job and even sold some bigger stuff last minute which was on the quote.

Movers show up, tell us that we have almost double the cubic feet then quoted and added another 600$ to quote price. How you can be this off boggles my mind. Contacted the sales guy who I talked to, wrote a long detailed explanation talking about the issues we had with pickup and the contradicting things he told me. He replied with a 2 sentence reply. Basically said sorry, you can call this number if you want.

When they got here, the boxes looked liked they had gone through a heavy duty laundry cycle. 4 boxes were packed in boxes we had not packed them in and they didn’t label them so we had to open them to tell them that it was our stuff. Which they just haphazardly threw into these new boxes so can’t imagine the process of what happened to our stuff from our boxes to theirs.

The first thing out of the delivery guys mouth was an insult, telling me how Americans are empty headed and only care about themselves.

I don’t plan on moving across country again but if I do I’m renting a Penske and doing it myself. We did this company because they quoted us far below doing it ourselves but ended up being more than doing it ourselves. Yes, we didn’t have to pack the truck which was nice or unload, but did have to basically unpack their at the spot due to not knowing what we’re in some boxes.

Lesson learned.

Long-distance move from Virginia to California

I do not recommend you to use them for your move.

I would not move with this company again, I would not recommend a friend to move with them, and I do not recommend you to use them for your own move. I've incurred hundreds of dollars of damage from their mishandling of items in my move and have not been reimbursed for any of it.

I recently moved across the country, from Virginia to California. After researching many companies and getting price quotes, I finally scheduled my move with Future Van Lines. The team in Virginia did show up on time and were courteous and quick loading the truck. However, it became clear in California when the truck was unloaded that the initial team did not take care of my items in terms of wrapping and loading. Damaged items were:

- Broken Desk and Hutch
This was improperly packed for cross-country transit. The movers on the California end even said that. Many book boxes were packed on the desk, so the weight caused the desk to collapse and break. It was packed with book boxes to the ceiling.

-Broken Glass on Large Frame
This item was packed by the movers in their specific Picture Box and the sheet of glass was completely shattered.

-Broken Chest Drawer
Packed by movers and arrived with broken drawers.

-Damaged Tall Dresser
Packed by movers and arrived with a broken off knob and bent knob.

-Stained Couch
Packed by movers and arrived with blue and black stains on the linen. There is color damage all over the couch.

All of these items were packed and loaded by the movers. Despite filing a claim form, they have yet to reimburse me for any of these damages. They dropped the bed frame on the floor which badly damaged the brand new wooden floor. We are the first tenants so the damage is obvious. They were eager to leave before the job was finished, including leaving the couch and kitchen table disassembled. I had to persuade them to stay and help me.

Because it was so late, there was no chance for us to review each and every item/box before they wanted to leave. However, they did have time on their way out to ask us if we knew where they could buy drugs in the area. No joke. They actually asked that. In addition they tried to mark the costs higher on my contract vs their contract and tried to require me to pay in cash, essentially asking me to forge paperwork so they could pocket the difference.

The claim form states that I will have written confirmation from them within 30 days, but it has been over 120 days since I sent it and I have not received anything back from them. Since then I have emailed three times, and called twice to follow up. I left voicemails for our representative, Seth, on both calls, yet I have no response.

Helvetica Moving is a terrifically stressful event, but that stress should not continue months after you have moved in to your new house or apartment. Using Future Van Lines as our movers resulted in broken pieces, damaged floors, and months long headaches. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Long-distance move from Baltimore, MD to Seattle, WA

More than $1000 of lost and damaged goods.

I would give 0 stars if I could. I'm shocked by how unprofessional and incompetent Future Van Lines has been. Here's a quick summary of my terrible moving experience from Baltimore to Seattle:

- $1000 worth of items were lost, including a queen bed (it's incomprehensible to me how an item this big could be "lost"), or damaged
- Our original move-out date was changed by the company at 5 pm on the second day of our agreed upon 2 day move-out window
- After our move-in experience when we discovered the lost and damaged items, it quickly became clear that Future Van Lines planned to do nothing to remedy the situation. I was forced to call almost every other day, and each time I did I would be told things like "Call back again tomorrow, the manager will be in then," or "I was planning to get working on locating your missing items tomorrow." I would have happily and patiently worked with Future Van Lines if I felt they a) were putting any effort into locating our missing items or b) indicated any plans to follow-through on the agreed-upon compensation for lost and damaged items.

Because of their unprofessional bordering on dishonest behavior, I've had to turn to pursuing other methods to recuperate my losses. I've filed claims with my credit card company, complaints to the Attorney General's Offices in Washington and Maryland, and a complaint to the FMCSA/National Consumer Complaint Database. I will not hesitate to take further arbitration or legal action if need be.

As a resident physician, not only does this >$1000 deficit cause current financial hardship (I plan to continue taking action until I am compensated for my losses), but pursuing the above actions is also a waste of my time. However, I feel I need to right this unfair situation.

Do Not Use This Company For Any Reason.

**DONT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY REASON**

Adam H, my sales guy, was great at his job. He talked me out of all the bad reviews that I questioned him about. I've never written a review so felt it was important to not let anyone else fall into the same mistake. They will tell you whatever you need to hear.

Pickup: I was given a 2 day window and was told a dispatcher would call me 24 hours in advance of pickup. On the first day, a dispatcher called me and said the crew would be there in 20 minutes. I told him I wasn't ready because I didn't get the 24 hour notice and he got defensive and told me he called me the day prior. I have an iphone, no one called me or left a voicemail.

Delivery Date: Adam H told me my stuff would be delivered between Dec 3-5. On December 1st, I received a call saying that my stuff would not be there until December 11-14. On December 3rd, I got a call in the morning saying my stuff would be here on December 9th. Later that day I got a call saying it would be there the following day (December 4th). I was moving from D.C. to Colorado, I don't understand how there could be so much confusion over when my belongings were going to arrive.
Throughout this, Adam was impossible to reach, avoided my calls and emails.

Delivery: I am currently still missing a box. The company made no attempt to find it and just directed me to file an insurance claim.
Even worse, they "broke" two boxes and combined the remnants of whatever occurred into one box. What is left is for the most part, destroyed. Two wood trays have chunks seemingly carved out, linen has jagged holes ripped in it. There are confetti shreds of cardboard, wood, mysterious material and seeds stuck to everything. There is a thick, sticky substance glued to some of the items. The crown jewel of this is the bio-hazard of a strangers BLOOD on the the pillow cases and other items in the box.

Financials: And, of course, they charged me approximately an additional $1,000 for this reason and that reason.

Damaged goods and rude staff.

This was the 2nd time we were using this company to help us move. The first time we used this company the movers were so professional and nice and they really took great care with our items. However, during the second time using this company we encountered a much different experience. The movers were very rude when we asked questions about the moving process and they scratched some of our furniture and dropped multiple boxes thereby breaking some of the contents inside. When we contacted the agency to let them know of our experience they also were very rude and basically told us that it was our loss since we signed the paperwork already.

Long-distance move from Arlington, VA to Fort Myers, FL

Awful company.

This company was the worst moving company I've ever used. I was moving from the DC area to Florida. I had high hopes for this company because they were reasonably priced and flexible about the moving date. I was told the movers would arrive between 8:00 and 10:00 am. They did not show until 3:00 pm. Given that I had a 15 hour drive ahead of me, this was very inconvenient. I had to cancel a hotel I had booked that would be at the half-way point of my drive and lost the money. When I called the company about that issue, they told me the window was "just an estimate" and that there was nothing they could do about that nor could they give me a discount. I will say that the movers who did the labor were really kind and helpful, so that was appreciated. The estimate the company gave me was $700 less than what they actually charged me, so I ended up paying about $2000 rather than $1300. They also nickel and dimed for extra boxes and "long carry" which meant it was a longer trip from the elevator to the truck ($100). They also told me they could not bring my lamps because they would definitely get broken. This was very inconvenient given that I was moving to a place with minimal overhead lighting.

My stuff arrived after a few days. My kitchen table was dented, my bookshelf was broken, and my two custom curtain rods were lost. Worst of all, I had a bed that lifted up for storage and the movers put the entire bed together backwards. I had to hire a handyman to come fix the bed which took 2.5 hours and cost me $80. When I called Future Van Lines and told them about this, they told me the movers only know how to put together basic furniture and that there was nothing they could do about it. Keep in mind, two other moving companies had successfully put my bed together in the past. When my mom called to complain about the issue, she spoke to a man named Sam. My mom said she would be leaving a bad review online, to which Sam replied something along the lines of "I don't take this [EDIT] from anyone. Who the hell do you think you are?!" My mom said she's never been spoken to like that by a company in her life.

In summary, this company was awful, rude, and didn't care AT ALL about customer service. I would never use them again, nor would I recommend them to anyone.

Local move from Silver Spring, MD to Columbia, MD

Worst moving company I have used.

This company is the worst I have used. Schedules a local move and driver arrives 5 hours after and no apologies by the sales man, Alfonse. Because of the later arrival, my storage facility is closed and so they decide to keep my stuff in the van and deliver next day.

The next day, the want to charge me for their drive and an extra hour. Stay away. They have no accountability and unprofessional.

Scam Mover.

TL;DR: This is a scam company. They also operate under aliases "trucks on call" and "cross state movers" and "ACCOLADE MOVING AND STORAGE SERVICES" all registered to Schlomo Dostikam at 852 QUINCE ORCHARD DR, STE T-2, GAITHERSBURG MD 20878 and 111 Washington Grove, Washington Grove, MD 20880. They operate out of an unmarked warehouse at 5650 3rd St NE DC (as do several other scam movers).

We read the bad reviews but decided to book on price and take our chances - maybe they would ask for a few hundred more than the estimate - WRONG. I was convinced that if nailed the inventory list, like Tom Parker told us, "there would be no surprises" on moving day. Man were we SCAMMED. There is no way to get an honest move out of these scumbags, so don't even try.

Our inventory was 100% accurate, as verified with quality control. I measured every box and figured out cubic footage. It was suspicious that items in the inventory are listed by weight instead of cu ft (boxes are the only item they actually quote in cu ft). But when I questioned why my bike was listed at 80 lbs, they said it was because of the volume it takes up in the truck. This made me more confident that our estimate was going to be right on. The crew who loaded us was nice enough, but in the end said we had 50% more cubic footage than our quote, which is impossible. The only additional things not on our inventory were 2 boxes they packed day of because Tom incorrectly told us we could leave items in drawers. That is only the case for clothing, evidently, nothing that will shift or rattle when they move the item (even paper). So a desk had to be emptied out. Based on the boxes they used, that should have been an additional 10 cu ft, max, not 300 cu ft (an additional $1300). Our original quote was for about 650 cu ft ($2900). When I called to point out that we had no more items than our estimate Sam Savoy said "the estimate means nothing" and after suggesting I should have claimed more items to increase space on the truck (what? I had no more items..I would have had to invent fake possessions to do this) to get a lower rate per cu ft on the overcharge (!?) He then threatened to hold our items hostage. They have no policy in place for disputing overcharges (which is illegal). If you press, Mateo (accounting/dispatch/in charge of telling you "he doesn't know" today) doesn't know who his boss is.

Upon delivery we called again after measuring the truck (on video) and confirming our stuff took up about 600 cu ft of space (right on with our original estimate!!) to try to get them to be reasonable and Sam Savoy again threatened to hide our belongings in an undisclosed storage space until we paid him (we have this conversation recorded).

Also, any packing supplies they use are ridiculously over priced (I.e., $17 for a box that retails for $4.25) so if they end up packing anything, that will add up quickly. We were charged $120 for tape to secure the moving blankets to furniture. At over $4k total price we could have gone with a reputable company.

I can also say that the initial delivery estimate provided by Tom was much shorter than the window that appears on the official quote (4-5 days vs 5-14) so be cognizant of that.

Many of our items were delivered damaged (hole in a box spring, metal bed frame and table scratched (they didn't even bother to wrap them), one table completely broken off at the base, one antique piece that I requested not be disassembled was and pieces were lost - to name just a few things that were damaged).

Long-distance move from Vienna, VA to San Diego, CA

Moving Company did not deliver three of my boxes.

I entered into a contract with Future Van Lines, LLC on 5/30/2019. They picked up my 52 boxes at my townhouse located at Vienna, VA. Out of 52 boxes, the company delivered 49 boxes to my house in San Diego, CA. My sister accepted 49 boxes only, and she made the driver aware that there should be 52 boxes. I called Sam (supervisor) and Matteo, dispatch department in Maryland at 888-678-6693 and reported the missing boxes. After several days, Matteo was able to track that one of our boxes went to their customer in California. Matteo said he will arrange for the box to be delivered to my sister's house (I gave him my sister’s address in CA), but week by week, Matteo was not able to get my box shipped to my sister’s address, and most of the phone calls were not returned anymore. The daughter of the customer who received bone of my box in error texted me and mentioned that Matteo is aware of her mom's phone and address but he is not taking any action to get the box shipped to me. Matteo claimed that he was having a difficult time reaching out the customer but the daughter claimed that her mom is missing some boxes, too and willing to give my box to the moving company to ship to me. I want my box that they recovered shipped to me without requiring the customer who received the box to weigh the box, just have FedEx picked the box and shipped them to me.The issue has not been resolved to date.
